Webb Farry together with the Dunedin School of Art once again have a brand new public gallery space in Dunedin's central business district at our exciting new premises on Level 2, 70 Stuart Street.
The AS Gallery (Alternative Space Gallery) is designed to expose emerging artistic talent to the wider Dunedin community.
Dunedin School of Art lecturer in painting Michael Greaves says the gallery space and location is of significant value to the postgraduate students who exhibit there.
"These students get the opportunity to test work outside of the studio and the Art School context, which provides them with a fresh view on their proposed projects. Secondary, but of equal importance, is the relationship that the Dunedin School of Art is fostering with Dunedin business and the community. Art and artworks are vital to a healthy, vibrant and diverse community. Having outlets beyond the established stuctures of the commercial dealer and public galleries benefits both the public and students exhibiting".
Webb Farry partner Megan Bartlett says that "our relationship with the Dunedin School of Art gives us the opportunity to do something special and utilise the significant wall space in our offices in a somewhat non traditional way - that is, 'non traditional' for a legal practice. The presence of the AS Gallery within the legal environment broadens the reach for the emerging artists beyond their normal audience. In addition to our clients, colleagues and staff, the public are encouraged to call in and freely wander around the exhibition on display".
To complement the establishment of the AS Gallery and further support emerging artists, Webb Farry has created an undergraduate award. It is designed to support the student by contributing towards the costs of their materials, studio time and other expenses.

We have sponsored the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra (previously Southern Sinfonia) for many years. The Orchestra's high artistic standard is acknowledged nationally and it is a source of pride for Dunedinites. However, with limited government support and the Orchestra’s wish to keep ticket prices reasonable, it relies on local support, such as ours.
We are proud supporters of the OBHS 1st XV.
We know the boys work hard not only at trainings and games but off the field too and we are pleased to offer sponsorship to help them achieve their goals.
Our support of the performing arts in Dunedin goes back decades, to the time of former mayor Peter Chin, a founding Partner in the practice. The Webb Farry Junior Scholarship is for 18 to 20 year olds and competed for annually.
